Dental Veneers

What are Veneers?

Veneers, also known as dental veneers, are a custom-made shell that will cover the front of your teeth. These are made out of materials that look like the teeth in order to help improve the appearance of the smile. Your dentist will bond these shells to the teeth to change the shape, length, or color.

The Types of Veneers

There are several types of veneers that you can choose from based on the condition being fixed. Often they will be made out of porcelain or a resin composite material. The porcelain option is the best because they mimic your natural teeth better and are more resistant to staining. You and your dentist can determine the right material for your needs.

Why Do I Need Veneers?

Your dentist may recommend veneers to help solve many dental problems. It is common to get veneers to help with:

  • Solving severely discolored teeth
  • To help worn out teeth
  • To hide broken or chipped teeth
  • To help misaligned or uneven teeth.
  • To fill in the gaps that occur between teeth

The Procedure

Getting these veneers put in place means you will need to visit a dentist at least three times. One of these is for the consultation, one is to make the veneers, and one is to apply them. You can get one or more teeth done at a time. Getting the veneers put on does not hurt and you can walk out of the dental office with a great new smile.
